Privacy and safety for independent escorts in Berlin

How to separate work from private life, screen clients, plan meetings and find specialist support in Berlin.

Working independently means setting your own rates, diary and boundaries. It also means deciding how much of your private life the work gets to see. The basics are fairly ordinary: separate accounts, clear rules about what you share, and a plan you can still follow when you are tired.

Keep what suits your work and leave the rest. When the right answer depends on your circumstances, speak to a specialist counselling service rather than relying on a general article.

Begin with two identities, not one blurred one

Choose a work name that is not tied to a private username, email address or old photograph. Give it a separate inbox and, where practical, a separate phone number or eSIM. Avoid reusing pictures from a private account. A reverse image search can connect identical photographs even when the names are different.

Review what appears in the background of photographs. House numbers, distinctive windows, work badges, reflections, mail and a view from a balcony can reveal more than the photograph’s subject. Remove location metadata before an image leaves your device. A platform should do this again when it processes an upload; the first copy is still your responsibility when you publish elsewhere.

Berlin can issue an additional registration certificate under an alias on request. The official registration still uses your identity. The alias certificate is for professional use and does not make you anonymous to the authority. Berlin’s service page lists the current documents and appointment process.

Decide your information boundary before an enquiry arrives

Write down three categories:

  1. Information anyone may see, such as your work name, city, rates and working hours.
  2. Information a screened client may receive when a date is agreed.
  3. Information that never belongs in a booking conversation, such as your home address, private employer, university or legal surname.

This is easier to decide before an enquiry arrives. A client does not need proof from your private life to believe you are real. Verification should confirm a specific fact without turning your documents into public content.

Make enquiries easy to assess

A useful enquiry contains a date, time, duration and enough context for you to decide whether the meeting fits. It should show that the person has read your terms. If they keep bargaining past a clear boundary, that tells you something too.

Keep the booking conversation on the channel you chose until you are comfortable moving it. Be cautious when someone creates urgency, changes the plan repeatedly, sends money you did not request, asks you to forward funds, or wants identity documents sent through chat. Pause is a valid response. Declining does not require an argument.

Screening can reduce uncertainty, but it cannot certify somebody’s character. Record only what you need. Protect it and decide when to delete it. Avoid informal shared “blacklists”: allegations about identifiable people create privacy, fairness and defamation risks.

Give every meeting a small plan

Before leaving, check the time, broad location, agreed duration and your route home. Some independent workers arrange a check-in with a trusted person. If you do, decide beforehand what “all good”, “call me” and no response mean. A protocol invented in the middle of a problem is not much use.

Keep transport money, a charged phone and essential belongings under your control. If the situation no longer matches what was agreed, you may leave. Consent and boundaries continue throughout a meeting; an earlier agreement is not permission for something different later.

If there is immediate danger, call 112. Platform reporting can happen after you are safe; it is not an emergency service.

What shhh should earn the right to know

shhh uses work names. Escorts control their availability and accept or refuse each request themselves. Before launch, we are testing verification and data retention with independent escorts. Public profiles should not expose a legal name, phone number or registration document.

We will publish the final terms for escorts, verification details and deletion rules before asking anyone to rely on them. Until then, independent escorts can challenge the design directly.
